CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Community Health Plan Maryland (CareFirst CHPMD) has partnered with NourishedRx to provide a new maternal health program called Mommy Meals. This food and nutrition program for pregnant members is designed to support you and your baby’s health through the power of healthy eating. Once you’re enrolled, you’ll receive six months of nutritious and delicious home-delivered food, six months of guidance and support from a NourishedRx nutrition coach and ongoing education, resources and help.

NourishedRx is a digital health and nutrition company that partners with health plans like CareFirst CHPMD to help improve your health by eating better. They believe that food is medicine and a healthy diet is the best approach to improve and maintain health. Their programs are designed to improve the way you feel, help you reach your goals and empower you to live your best and healthiest life—all on your own terms.

To be eligible, you must be actively enrolled in CareFirst CHPMD and be between 20–28 weeks pregnant.

Once enrolled, you’ll schedule your first nutrition coaching session and your coach will place your first healthy home-delivered food order. You’ll receive food deliveries and meet with your dedicated dietitian for six months. You’ll get additional support from a NourishedRx wellness associate. You can manage the program and resources through the NourishedRx App, website or through links that will be sent to you through text and/or email.

Click the link in the email to complete an intake questionnaire and enroll. Or scan the QR code from your letter and go to this program information page. From there, you can start your program enrollment online by entering your information.

You can also call, text or email NourishedRx using the provided contact information. NourishedRx will verify your eligibility and then you’ll complete a quick assessment to finalize your enrollment in the program.

Make sure you’re entering your 2025 member or ID number, your name, and your date of birth exactly as they appear on your member ID card. If you did not receive an invitation to enroll in the program, you may not be eligible, and we will not be able to recognize the ID number and name provided.

You’ll be required to provide your name, date of birth, phone number and CareFirst CHPMD ID as it appears on your member ID card. Additionally, you’ll be required to complete a brief assessment to give your nutrition coach the information they need to deliver the right foods and education to you

You’ll meet with your coach by phone the first six months of the program. They’ll work to understand your health and take you through lessons made for your needs and goals. Your coach will order balanced and nutrient-rich home-delivered foods that keep in mind your dietary restrictions, likes and feedback on previous deliveries.

Your wellness associate will help you with enrollment and participation, answer any questions you might have, encourage and motivate you throughout and help connect you to resources that might be helpful to you.

You’ll receive a combination of healthy prepared meals and groceries throughout the first six months of the program. The groceries you receive will depend on the number of individuals in your house and the food will be tailored to your dietary needs and likes. Your coach will order food delivery on your behalf.

After you enroll, you’ll receive food for six months, support from your nutrition coach and wellness associate for six months and have ongoing access to online resources.

Yes, the combination of healthy food, nutrition coaching and resources are offered at no cost to you.

You’ll receive your first healthy home-delivered food after completing your program intake questionnaire, and you will continue to receive food for six months. You’ll receive order and delivery confirmation for each food order.

No. You can provide input and feedback on the food you receive, but your coach will carefully select balanced and nutrient-rich food on your behalf.

NourishedRx partners with a variety of national and local suppliers to deliver healthy meals and groceries.

You’ll have an opportunity to rate the food you receive throughout the program through surveys, and with your coach and wellness associate. Your nutrition coach will consider your feedback into future food deliveries to best meet your needs and likes.

You will receive food order and delivery notifications through email, text, phone and/or the NourishedRx app, whichever you prefer.

Maintaining a healthy diet is a key to a healthy pregnancy for you and your baby. It can sometimes be challenging to regularly access and eat healthy foods while maintaining other aspects of your life. This program is designed to support healthy eating and living to improve your and your baby’s health and wellness.
